The Graduate Program in Biological Sciences has two main research lines:

1)  Immunology & Infecto-parasitic Diseases

2) Genetics & Biotechnology

Created in 2005, the Master’s course started its activities in March 2006, and, in 2010, the PhD course was approved, starting its activities in 2011.  According to the criteria of the Higher Education Personnel Improvement Coordination (CAPES), currently the Post-graduation Program (PPG) in Biological Sciences has grade 4 and 20 PhD professors on its faculty, 10 of which are permanent and 10 are collaborators.

The program aims at training senior human resources in the areas of Life Sciences, Health Sciences or Agricultural Sciences who wish to improve their knowledge and develop a research project on issues related to Immunology, Genetics and Biotechnology, using experimental models, animals, plants and microorganisms. The program includes professionals from different areas whose integration characterizes the multidisciplinary nature of the approach to the problems to be studied.
