Fábio Roland

Graduated in Biological sciences in 1987, at the Federal University of São Carlos (UFSCAR), Fabio Roland obtained a masters degree in 1991 and a phD in 1995, both in Ecology and Natural Environment Ressources.

Between 1996 and 1998, he was a researcher post-doc in the Institute of Ecosystem Studies, in the United States of America. Since 1992, he has holded the position of professor and researcher at the Federal University of Juiz de Fora (UFJF).

Currently, he holds a position of Associate Professor 4 in UFJF and carries out the coordinating role of the Graduate Program in Ecology (PGECOL). He was president of the Brazilian Society of Limnology and organizer (chair) of two national Congress of Limnology (one in Juiz de Fora, in 2003, and the other in Ilhéus, in 2005).

Some of Fabio’s academic functions :

Human ressources training in Ecology, guiding students of Scientific Initiation, Masters, Doctorate and young doctors in the programs of UFJF and of the UFRJ;
Coordinator of the laboratory of Aquatic Ecology of UFJF and of UFRJ;
Production of scientific documents of international circulation;
Participation in relevant forums, especially as a reviewer of journals, member of scientific committees (Panel of Climatic Changes, INCT Climate Change, Scientific Societies National and International and UNESCO-International Hydrological Program) and actor in national and international cooperations (Diturbance of the Global carbon cycle by man-made reservoirs, Global Lake Ecological Observation Network, Comparative Environmental Issues, Diverse Study Solutions and Carbon in the Amazon Flood-plain – CARBAMA).
