Biodiversity of planktonic microorganisms: Waters of Minas

Data: 10 de November de 2016

Main goals:

Understand the community structure (specific composition and diversity) within the aquatic microbial food chain in different aquatic systems of Minas Gerais.

Specific goals:

   1. Evaluate the spatial structure of the diversity and the composition of specific groups of bacteria, phytoplankton, flagellates and ciliates.

   2. Compare different aquatic systems of Minas Gerais in terms of microbial community structure

   3. In addition to diversity, also determine functional patterns such as production and respiration of phytoplankton and bacteria in ecosystems in the Zona da Mata Mineira.

   4. Evaluate toxicity if blossoms and/or abundance of potentially toxic organisms are identified in water samples from Zona da Mata.

   5. Create and disseminate the web page with the data generated by this project, mainly for the science teaching network of Minas Gerais.
