Getting to Juiz de Fora

You are at: Travel Info > Getting to Juiz de Fora

Juiz de Fora is served by two airports: Zona da Mata Regional Airport (IZA) and Rio – Galeão International Airport (GIG).

Flying to Rio – Galeão Int’l Airport (GIG)

Several major airlines operate at Rio – Galeão, offering direct flights to a great number of destinations. A up-to-date list of those destinations can be found here. Passengers flying from east Asia may reach Rio using connections in Dubai, Frankfurt, Paris, London and Amsterdam.

The bus trip between Rio and Juiz de Fora takes 2,5-3 hours and buses leave the Novo Rio Bus Terminal every hour, from 06 am to 11 pm. Bus tickets can be purchased at the bus station. Some websites (Brasilbybus.com and BrazilBusTravel.com) sell bus tickets online, but they tend to be more expensive than buying the ticket at the bus station.

It is also possible to book transfers between Rio – Galeão and your final destination in Juiz de Fora. Arrangements for those transfers can be made directly with local travel agencies. If you want to book a transfer, click here or send an email to contact@cultbrazil.com.br .

Flying to Zona da Mata Regional Airport (IZA)

Two major Brazilian airlines – Azul and Gol – operate at this airport. Azul offers direct flights to Campinas Viracopos Int’l Airport (VCP) – and, from there, to IZA – departing from Lisbon, Orlando and Fort Lauderdale. Gol operates between São Paulo – Congonhas Airport (CGH) and IZA.

Buses leave IZA directly to Juiz de Fora after each landing and the trip takes 1 hour.
