Resumo: What happens when we randomly pick a multipartite quantum state from the set of all pure quantum states? We know that for any reasonable choice of what the word “randomly” means here, we will get that typical states obtained from this process are highly entangled. A bit more precisely: the larger the number of parts is, the higher is the probability of ending up with maximally entangled typical states. Thinking about what happens with the CHSH inequality and Bell states, this argument suggests that typically, when the number of parts is way greater than one, all pure states violate a Bell inequality maximally, doesn’t it? Well, actually, that is not entirely true. Considering a representative class of Bell inequalities, we can show that the probability of finding any significant amount of violation goes to zero exponentially fast as the number of parts goes to infinity. Likewise, we can also show that when the number of parts is at least equals to three, the same result is valid as the local dimension goes to infinity. Got curious? Does not know what half of the words above mean? No worries, this seminar is intended for you! Show up this Tuesday at our meeting! See y’all there 😉
